Introduction ============ This document contains 93 images (8MB total) with dimensions 1024 x 768. I took these photographs without a tripod on 2002 December 12th, between 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM. I was visiting Sennari Interactive, my former employer, in Marina Del Rey, and on my return trip to Irvine I decided to walk around Hermosa Beach and take pictures as dusk approached. The pictures are in exact chronological order, so you can imagine walking around Hermosa Beach with me. Hermosa Beach Experience ======================== I lived in Hermosa Beach, CA, with my friend Serge Cortes, from roughly May, 1999, to October, 2000. We lived about 200 yards from the beach, in an apartment complex called Playa Pacifica. I was working at Adrenalin / Sennari at the time, on a Nuon demo, Flintstone's Bedrock Bowling (PC/PSX), EA's NCAA Football 2001 (PSX), and a Playstation 2 demo. I really loved living in Hermosa Beach, and I'd be living there today if I had the cash. It's not terribly expensive, (roughly $1000/mo 1BR/1B, $1500/mo 2BR/2B), but I don't like being forced to work just to pay rent. If I ever become wealthy, I will move back to Hermosa Beach, or perhaps to Manhattan Beach, because it's a pleasant place to live. Serge and I went to local restaurants and bars a few nights a week. We walked from our apartment to Manhattan Beach on the pedestrian path by the ocean, to an Italian restaurant called Mama's (verify?), or to The Kettle (open 24 hours). We liked local Hermosa Beach hangouts, too, such as Rocky Cola Cafe, Hennessey's Tavern, Einstein's (or was it Ein Stein's!), etc. Of course we went to conventional restaurants in the area: Ruby's, Cheesecake Factory (very popular location), and sometimes Denny's (open 24 hours) on Artesia. Sometimes we went to some classy restaurants with really small, but delicious, entrees. I liked the whole experience of living there and working at Sennari. It was a nice gig while it lasted. Eventually the life of a video game programmer was burning me out, and Serge wanted to move back to the East Coast after spending about five years in Southern California.
